An Adventure–and Then Some!

How do you describe the wonderful time a family can have on a 5283 mile trip “out East”?!

My girls have done a much better job keeping up–both on their blog as well as in their visual journals!  I wish I could have worked on mine in the van as we were going, but that never seemed to work out!   Guess  they have had more experience working in tight quarters than me!  ;)

It was definitely worth all the packing and planning and persevering to make it happen!

I really have to give the girls a LOT of credit—I became extremely ill the Saturday before we left.  In fact, even until Thursday I was beginning to wonder if we were going to have to postpone the trip!  But I started feeling better and well enough to get my stuff washed and packed–nothing like waiting until the 11th hour!!!!

We knew it was an ambitious trip and that we couldn’t “see it all” no matter how much we wanted to!    It was great, though, to do what we could and at least hit the highlights.    And learning continued to take place–the girls would look things up on the internet when we got to a hotel or McDonald’s (for free WiFi!).   Road Scholars, indeed!  :D

We were gone 19 1/2 days.  We only stayed at hotels 7 of those 19 nights!  The rest we stayed at the homes of wonderful family and friends, and even had a few quick visits with family and friends sprinkled in between those!   Sometimes it made it hard to leave in the mornings, though, because we enjoyed the fellowship so much!   And a few times, it meant we bumped a few things off “the list” to be able to enjoy that fellowship!

Was it worth it all?!

A resounding YES!!!!

  1. Hi Mommy!

What a WON-DE-FUL trip we had all together! ( I spelled wonderful wrong
on purpose. :)! Just so ya know. )

Yes we did learn things along the way…*ahem* like Gettysburg is not
the best place to visit if your a confederate at heart! LOL :) I’m just teasing. But, that wasn’t really school. Oh yes! I did spelling! I now know how to spell Stephen Kndrick! wait I thought there was an e in Kndrick? ha ha! I’m just jokin! I do really remember how to spell kEndrick. :)

I also refreshed my memory and looked up Cowpens battlefield. ( I did it when we got home, but I wouldn’t have refreshed my memory on it if I hadn’t seen the sign on the trip.) Yep, that was a weird battle. They all got in these cow stalls and shot back and forth at each other! Sorry, old bess, they invaded your “house” and um…yeah, she died. :( So that is why it is called Cowpens battlefield. :)….or not. :)

Um, can we go back to Albany GA? :)

    Have a great day!

    Love your silly daughter.

P.S. Maybe you shouldn’t approve this silly comment, maybe just delete it? :)

i live close that light house………really close.

    • Trisch says:

Have you been to see it, though, Emily?! LOL! It seems sometimes we live so close to something neat we almost take it for granted, doesn’t it?

That must be neat, to live close to the ocean!

We were very blessed to be included in your 19 1/2 days!!!! So wonderful to meet your family!

    • Trisch says:

Oh, and we were blessed by you! What a wonderful meal and a beautiful garden! I just wish we could have stayed longer–but we don’t live toooo far away from each other, so maybe we can plan a visit some time! And you know you’re always welcome to come here, too!

      HUGS!

We enjoyed your quick stop at our house! I hope your trip was worth all the work and all those miles travelled. WOW! You did squeeze in a lot in a short amount of time!!!!!!

    • Trisch says:

Oh, it was definitely worth all the work! (The girls did most of it–LOL!) Seriously, we enjoyed every bit of it!

Wish we could have stayed longer and saw St. Simon’s Island–maybe some time we’ll make it out there again and we can! Thank you for having us and serving us a yummy dessert and then a good southern breakfast in the morning!

      HUGS!

Hi Trisch! It’s good to hear from you again. :)

Ok…who is “Spicy”?? I am not familiar with everyone’s nicknames. :)

Sounds like you all had a lot of fun!!

    • Trisch says:

“Spicy” is the girl whose name means “cinnamon”! (Cassia) And she is spicy in her personality, too, so it fits her quite well! (meaning that in a good way–well, now it’s a good way! ;) )

How is your little guy doing, Angela? I’ll bet he’s growing and changing so fast!

      Blessings!

    • Trisch says:

Yes, I think we could have spent another 2 weeks if we could have just visited each wonderful family for a few days vs. just 1!

Thank you for your hospitality–we really enjoyed it! (And thank you for letting us do our laundry at your home!)

      HUGS!

Ahhhhhhhh!!! Trisch!!! How fun! I knew you all were going on a trip! but, wow! We did the same thing going south and out West in the summer of 2008. It was so tiring, so busy, but yes, SOOO! worth it! I think we tool 5000 photos and went 5000 miles!

Boy, I miss you so much. I found the photos of the last time you all were at our house before we left, and the one of you and me. Maybe you all can come down in May…. and we can get another?!?? I mean, a BUNCH more!
    :)
I heard there may be a wedding down here at that time… for someone… you know…
:) Miss you. You need to get on the girls’ Skye and talk to your long lost friend. Email me and we can set a time…
(do you have our phone number for the States, btw??) We can TALK ON THE PHONE! (I can’t believe that the girls didn’t tell you all… they just told me! What is wrong with them!)
    LOL
Ok… well, signing off and hoping to ttys IRL.
    Love you~ J

    • Trisch says:
